Rosilay Leite is a self-taught artist whose inspiration is inherited from her family. She grew up watching her father make papel machê or 'chewed-up paper' masks for Carnival, and from this experience came the desire to work with something playful and sustainable. Lay, as she is known, uses recyclable materials and a lot of imagination to create her always unique, colourful pieces with diverse themes from Brazilian popular culture. Her technique is papier-mâché, which she masters with expertise.
